Church History

Once the Lord gave Pastor Andreaux P. Bordeaux the vision to begin the ministry, it was started in his home September 17, 2000.

The Church of the Risen Lord’s name was established by a vote taken with the few members that existed at the time. Church services were held in the pastor’s home for approximately one year until the ministry moved to the Fort Caroline Middle School cafeteria. The Church of the Risen Lord was founded on love – love for the Lord and love for others. Due to the ministry’s foundation of love, the Homeless and Nursing Home Ministries were implemented during its time at Fort Caroline Middle School. With the exception of a few family members and friends, Sunday services were mainly comprised of homeless individuals and nursing home residents who were picked up by the ministry. Church of the Risen Lord provided lunch for each of these individuals before returning them to the shelter or their residence. This is an early testimony of how the Lord has always provided for this ministry from the beginning.

After two years at Fort Caroline Middle School, Church of the Risen Lord moved to a store-front on University Boulevard where the growth of the ministry began. The ministry remained at this location for six years and during this time the youth ministry began. In addition, Brother Antonio Bordeaux and Brother Billy D. Williams were appointed as the church’s first Deacons. As the Lord added to the body, a Leadership Team was established and Brother Ronald Joquin was ordained as the first Elder.

Over the course of time many ex-inmates have come into the ministry. Many of these individuals committed their lives to the Lord and have become dedicated members of the church. Growth within the ministry resulted in the church’s move to a larger facility on Townsend Boulevard in August, 2009. To meet the needs of the members and the community several additional outreach ministries were established including a Prison Ministry, Care-Givers Ministry, Health Care Ministry and a Food & Clothing Pantry.

After six years on Townsend, the ministry's growth flourished and the Lord instructed Pastor to relocate to a larger facility. Following thirty days of remodeling and preparation, Church of the Risen Lord moved to its current location on Rogero Road. This move allowed additional space to be utilized by the Praise Team, Children's Ministry, Ministers, and Teenagers.

In January 2016, the Lord called our beloved, First Lady Lucille, home to be with him. Although First Lady may no longer be with us, her loving spirit and godly teachings will never be forgotten. Her prayer was for the ministry to grow spiritually and numerically. Her prayer was answered as the church was blessed with its first purchase of a commercial property in April 2016.

The Lord has provided for all the needs of the Church of the Risen Lord and its outreach ministries. His blessings have been abundant for this ministry since its humble beginnings and continue to abound each day.
