First Lady Lucille Bordeaux
In Memorium
First Lady Lucille Bordeaux was born August 23, 1939, in Creedmoor, North Carolina
to the late William Bennett White and Alice Lee White. She was the youngest of seven
siblings (4 brothers & 2 sisters). As a child she spent hours reading books and
looking at magazines; dreaming of all the future had in store for her, but never
forgetting the lesson instilled by her mother…you can accomplish it all, if you are
willing to work hard. Her family moved to Cleveland, Ohio where she grew up and
graduated high school.
Over her life, First Lady enjoyed traveling as much as possible. She thought nothing of
jumping in the car and heading out to anywhere. Her adventurous side proved beneficial
as she resided in various states including Alabama and Kentucky. In addition, she
gained employment in many different positions. First Lady was an antiques appraiser and
served 15 years as a Quality Control Supervisor for Multigraph Corporation, which
manufactured computer ribbons. While in Huntington, West Virginia she was the first
black woman to be hired by Lazarus Department Store’s finance department. Relocating to
Jacksonville in 1991, she joined Nelnet as a Student Loan Analyst and dedicated 10
years until her retirement. No job was too big or too small in her opinion and she did
each with joy in her heart and a smile on her face.
First Lady was a devoted wife of twenty years to Pastor Andreaux Bordeaux and a loving
mother of four: Steve, Victor, Felicia, and Darryl. Always the gracious hostess, she
thoroughly enjoyed opening her home to everyone. First Lady was prepared to offer a
home cooked meal and homemade dessert to anyone that stopped by; so it is no surprise
that she had a house full of guests at any given time.
First Lady was a Godly woman who dedicated her life to serving the Lord every day. She
enjoyed the simple things in life and considered herself blessed beyond measure. She
was an ordained Missionary and often served as a guest speaker for various local
churches.
In September 2000, First Lady Bordeaux was led by the Lord to stand with her husband,
Pastor Bordeaux, as he founded Church of the Risen Lord. For the next 15 years she
dedicated her life to continuing to share the good news of Salvation offered by the
Lord Jesus Christ, supporting Pastor in every possible way, serving others less
fortunate, and sharing her wisdom and guidance to countless individuals. Through the
years, she became a mother-figure to many women, and men alike - showing compassion,
a willingness to listen, offering a shoulder to cry on, or some much needed
correction. First Lady did all of these without hesitation and always with love. She
was a strong woman with many talents and an outstanding example of what a wife,
mother and woman of God should be. She was a woman of class who became all that God
created her to be - an awesome First Lady.
In January 2016, the Lord called our beloved First Lady Lucille home to be with Him.
Although she is no longer with us, her loving spirit and Godly teachings will never
be forgotten. It is with loving and thankful hearts that we give all praise and honor
to the Lord for having blessed us with our beautiful and gracious First Lady Lucille
Bordeaux.
